Myotherapy
What is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy, also known as muscular therapy, involves assessing muscular injuries and dysfunctions, applying various physical techniques to alleviate pain, and facilitating the rehabilitation of soft tissues and their root causes. The primary goals of Myotherapy are to enhance muscular strength and flexibility while reducing pain.
This form of therapy is beneficial for treating a wide range of injuries and conditions caused by strains, sprains, occupational stress, poor posture, recreational activities, emotional stress, improper ergonomics, faulty biomechanics, muscular imbalances, traumatic injuries, overuse, or chronic neuromuscular or musculoskeletal disorders.
These conditions often manifest through symptoms such as generalized aches, headaches, neck or back pain, stiffness in joints, neurological issues, or decreased flexibility.
What to expect…
Myotherapy involves assessing, treating, and addressing pain associated with soft tissue injuries and restricted joint mobility caused by myofascial or muscle dysfunction. This approach to injury management is holistic, considering the entire body alongside the specific issue.
Treatment includes targeted soft tissue techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, cupping, trigger point therapy, stretching, dry needling, and heat therapies. Rehabilitation typically includes tailored exercise and stretching regimens, along with corrective advice.
During an Initial Myotherapy Consultation, a comprehensive approach is taken, including a review of medical history, injury background, assessment of skeletal structure and posture, testing of range of motion and joint mobility, evaluation of muscle strength and neurological function, orthopaedic assessments, and palpation for diagnostic purposes. Please allow 60 minutes for your initial appointment.
Our Myotherapist, Eryn, currently works Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with limited after hours appointments available. Consecutive appointments typically run for 45 minutes, however extended consultations are available at Eryn’s discretion.
